I will be spending a few weeks there this month. Where do I need to go?

Tunks on Kincaid Lake is pretty good, but they have most of the usual fast food joints around town too...

As a venal resident I would like to remove tunks from that list and add Robbie gs, quebideauxs, los portales, little Cajun house, and word of mouth.

Robbie gs is a local fry house with good shrimp and fish.

Quebideauxs has great boudin, boudin balls and plate lunches. I tend to stay away from everything else though I heard that the boudin burger is legit.

Los portales is good in general but they have great fajitas.

Little Cajun house has really good poboys and solid muffelatas (sp?). They order all of their bread from Nola. Takes a few minutes to get food but it is all made to order.

Word of mouth is only open for lunch. Very good though. They always have "different" options on the menu from other places. Last time I went they had pulled pork tacos with a blackberry jelly sauce. It was amazing. Also, their bread pudding is some of the best I've ever had.

Is Critic's Choice still open? They have good sandwiches. I lived in Ellic 20+ years ago and haven't been back much since.
B.J.'s Pizza was pretty good back in the day. There was a good Chinese joint I'm blanking on -- their big dish was tiny spicy chicken

Outlaws has pretty good barbecue.

Southern classic opened up a restaurant there recently if you want some really good fried chicken.

Everything else being mentioned is good also.

Oriental Wok is what you're referring to.

rice & gravy in a casing. but hey, if you like rice& gravy, that pretty much describes every meal.

word of mouth is good for lunch. Spirits is nice for some beers and pub food.

One of the biggest things that I miss from there. The tiny spicy chicken is awesome.

It is very good but I prefer to get the tiny spicy shrimp, just because I don't like dark meat chicken in Chinese food.

That kind of blasphemy should get you a time out on the food board.

Sombreros is way better in that department. Real skirt Steak.

Sombreros

I personally do not care for sombreros. If I want any kind of Mexican or Tex mex, I have my favorite places picked out. Fajitas - los portales or Julia's. Chili verde or carnitas - el parain. Carne Asada - El Paso, and chili poblano - los portales. I will concede that the shrimp fajitas at sombreros are very good.

I get that, but no one touches their skirt steak. In fact, Los Portales has below average steak fajitas. Their best items, to me, are the chili verde and chili bola.
