I'm a Houma fan. We do quite a lot of work in that area and I had a camp on Four Point Road in Dulac for years.
But trust me BR seafood is ok to eat.

Again, I challenge someone to tell me of an actual restaurant in Houma that has outstanding seafood. I'm pretty familiar with the area and I'm not impressed.

Bayou Delight on bayou black just north of Savanne Rd has some good fried seafood and they have live cajun music on Friday nights.

Sportsman's Paradise "down da road" towards Cocodrie has the best fried(dont
) speckled trout i've ever had.

I agree and their tartar sauce is also the shite
I usually call in an order there and pick it up on the way to the camp.

I hate this place. And the B.R. location is worse.

you guys down highway 61 are growing like weeds and are getting a shite ton of restaurants down there in prairieville .. are these places worth a shite, or do you still drive in to BR to eat out ?? just wondering, what places are good in your opinion and what are just basic "me too, here's your nachos, hamburger, and budweiser" joints ?
Usually on Friday's, I'll go pick up China Chef, located on the corner of Airline Highway and Highland Road, next to Albertson's. It's the only to go Chinese restaurant that is worth a shite in this area.
Haven't eaten at Las Mestiza. Wife's been, said it's pretty good. Charlie Brown's, blah. Their burger sucks. Mi Padres, I like it for the simple fact they make their own flour tortillas.
Tommy's Fish House, don't see what all the fuss is all about. Their bread was as hard as my head and the shrimp were baby shrimp, overcooked and chewy. Another Las Palmas opened up. Yeah, it replaced the Godfather's Pizza off Highway 73. I don't see what the attraction is to Las Palmas. I am partial to Italian, so Mezza Luna is the best for me. I've been twice and both times it was very good. Sno's is okay, nothing special. Mike Anderson's, even though I think has gone downhill in recent years, still serves a good seafood platter and homemade onion rings (located in Gonzales).
But to answer your question, when we go out, we often go out to eat in Baton Rouge, however, for just about everything else, we tend to stay in Ascension.
