Rudest people I've encountered at a business. They will go out of their way not to be helpful. I asked what flavor a cake was and was told "yellow". I asked if they could be a little more specific, I'm looking for lemon filling. The sales person replied "I don't have time to tell you the flavor of every cake, If you wanted something special, you should have placed an order". I left wanting to bitch slap everybody there.

Yeah, that is the norm for that place, had a whole thread bashing them a few months ago, I refuse to spend money at a place like that, even if it means not having that strawberry cake, which is the only thing I have ever enjoyed from there

Maybe you came in there with an attitude.
I have never once gotten attitude from anyone that worked there.

99% of the time i take the side of the employees when stuff like this happens, but there seems to be something wrong at that place, and that encounter you had seems uncalled for, and i worked a long time at a place that a decent number of local people said "i will never go back again" but we had 5 times more people that would eat there 3 or more times a week, so you never know how people perceive things

Me neither. Bad service yes but not attitude.
That said I grew up on Baum's and after an episode with my 125 dollar daughters birthday cake won't set foot in there again. Guess I need to send Newman in to get my lemon meringue pie cause it's the best.

isn't yellow cake a pretty standard flavor? If you wanted lemon shouldn't you have asked if they had any lemon cake?
Been in there a couple times and they always seemed pretty nice.

My grooms cake was from there. It was the Tiger Stadium one. My wife paid an unbelievable amount of money on it, it looked cool and ate even better.
Anyway, I've never experienced rudeness there, just a little slow.

+1
This guy comes off as someone that would be a problem customer no matter what. Anyone who has waited tables knows the type as soon as they start talking, the kind who tips for shite no matter how good the service is.

I dislike Ambrosia for the same reasons as stated above... impatience and bad service. I was excited when they said they were going to move to a larger location to help with traffic flow and they could hire some more people. Well last time I went, I had ordered ahead, and it was as if I had inconvenienced the lady behind the counter because she had to leave her station to go get my cake. She gave me a huff and walked to the back. I got my cake and it was great, but its definitely not worth the hassle. From now on, I go to Baum's even if it means I pay a little more.

Cake Palace is better in every way, including their take on the strawberry.

If they would just clean up the front a little bit I'd hit it more for breakfast. It's always a wreck. Take a few tables out and get some more confortable ones as well and I'd sit there for awhile and drink coffee and read my paper.
