Sounds like the numbers on the scales are a primary difference between us too
Your idea of breakfast is slop on a plate - nothing wrong with that, you fit in well at those places you eat.
I don't know you, but I'm willing to put my height and weight against you and your fancy breakfast any day of the week. And how exactly do you think eggs, bacon, grits and toast (what you call "slop") found at a typical diner/breakfast spot is worse for you than poached eggs drowned in hollandaise sauce with hashbrowns and salsa infused w/ wheatgrass.. or whatever it is you're eating over there?

Out of curiosity, what did you have at ABE that make you puke?
I got their eggs benedict the one time I went. It was about 7am .. I was one of maybe 5 people in the entire restaurant, and the dish came out COLD! How that's even achievable is beyond me, unless they're not actually doing some real cooking back there. It wasn't even a long wait between ordering and getting my food. Besides being cold the poached eggs were overcooked, the ham was tough and the hollandaise tasted like it came from a bag.

Fair enough on ABE - I rarely eat breakfast out anywhere as I don't care for much other than fruit and toast. I've never had eggs benedict or any hollandaise at ABE, but I too would be disgusted if cold. I'll go on occasion as my wife loves the banana's foster pancakes. Entirely too sweet for my tastes, but it's a much more interesting breakfast item than anything on the menu at Strawns or Southfield, so I'll give ABE credit for that - and I'll recommend it to people looking for a brunch spot w/ booze, like this thread.
My main problem with Southfield isn't their breakfast, but the rest of the atrocious food they serve. "Meat and 3" places are nasty and depressing - and what they serve is an insult to the word "vegetable"

For real, it was awful. Just awful. and yeah, bananas foster pancakes? not in my wheelhouse either. too sweet and waffles are 10000x better than pancake anyway.
their green beans are a joke for sure. I've seen them and they look like they're definitely from a can.
breakfast is on point though, and they have a really nice wait staff.

George's breakfast is damn good. No booze though

surprised George's is still around. been a few years since I've been .. but it seems like that strip of Kings is continually having old businesses close. and yeah, good greasy spoon for sure.

This is true for sure. Squash ceases to be a veggie when it's fried. Everything else on their menu is beans/peas (limas, speckled butter, black eyes, etc)
I enjoy their plate lunches, but I always leave absolutely miserable feeling, so I don't go all that often. The breakfast is good, though.
