Recently did lunch at the restaurant at the Myrtles in St. Francisville. I think it's called 1776 or something like that. It was very good.

Hot Tails in New Roads. The Francis or St Francisville Inn on the other side of the river.

What he ^ said.

Now if you want to go sit in a bar and eat a really good burger, give Bueches Bar a try. But it’s a bar. A local bar. Don’t expect cloth napkins or anything remotely refined.

Gotta try the key lime pie for desert. It's not in pie form, but baked in a casserole dish.

^ This is probably the best recommendation.

Just for variety and to add to the thread, Not Your Mama's on Main St in New Roads.

My go to move is The Francis Smokehouse for lunch and then The Francis restaurant for dinner

The best lunch on either side of the river is really at the smokehouse, but then it messes up dinner plans if you're dead set on The Francis for dinner.

In SF:
For something nicer 1796 at The Myrtles or The St Francisville Inn, and The Saint for drinks

More casual there's The Francis, El Mejor, or Cafe Petra and The Oyster Bar for drinks

The mag is only open for lunch these days.

More upscale dining, if thats a thing in St. Fran:
1a. 1796 (Myrtles)
1b. The St. Francisville Inn

Other good dinner:
Hot Tails in NR
My Mama's in NR
Not Your Mama's further done the way in Livonia
The Francis

Lunch spot:
Francis Smokehouse in SF
The Magnolia Cafe in SF

Underappreciated gems:
Sonnys Pizza in SF
Southern Chicks Cafe & Daiquiris in NR

The hidden gem is the Jungle Inn. I've already said too much.

The Francis Smokehouse(not the restaurant) and El Mejor Mexican in St Francisville are amazing.

Is that really hidden? It's amazing for sure but it's been right there on US 61 since around 1957.
