I have an envie for some fried shrimp and was thinking about making some in the air fryer. (I don't like to fool with deep frying things)
Any tricks or things I should be aware of? I understand you don't want to mess with a wet batter.

I'd go buy some honestly if you don't want to actually fry them.

They don't do well. Shrimp cook so fast and hot when fried and the air fryer can't do that. They come out over cooked and rubbery in my opinion.

You want baked shrimp? A convection oven is not a suitable replacement for frying shrimp... or anything.

From the context of your thread, you could just buy those frozen shrimp that have been battered & fried prior to packaging and put them in the air fryer. It allows you to avoid frying yourself, but still having a decent outcome. I dont advise battering fresh shrimp and air frying them.

I’ve done a coconut breaded shrimp in a convection oven that came out pretty good. It was something I just found by googling. I can see how doing like a fish fry breading wouldn’t really work well.

That sounds fine. I just use my convection oven when I want to do something like that. I still prefer to cook shrimp hot and fast. Shrimp cooks so fast, I rarely have it cook longer than a single minute.

Louisiana Shrimp fry seasoning. Mix half with water and leave half in a bowl (see directions on bag). Defrost shrimp, dip in wet, then coat in the dry seasoning. spray both sides with olive oil spray or PAM and then airfry for 5-10 minutes at 400.

Profit
