How you make a tako toddy?

Per wikipedia:
Pour a shot of Whisky into a cup and add boiling water to it. Add a spoonful of honey or sugar. Add a half slice of lemon, two cloves and, if available, a cinnamon stick. Let brew for three to five minutes.
Depending on preference, the cloves and cinnamon stick can be removed before drinking, although leaving them in is often said to make a toddy even better for clearing a blocked nose and relieving a head cold.

Cajuns used to refer to the Croatian fishermen as Takos, because the Croatians would respond tako- tako, so-so, when asked how they were doing. I was taught to make a tako toddy by my Croatian grandfather as follws:
Slice a lemon into thin circular slices, add a cup of sugar and mash them together until all the juice from the lemon has dissolved the sugar into a slurry. Add water and cracked ice and stir to mix the sugar lemon slices and water so that no sugar crystals are visible. Add whiskey until the liquid is a light amber color. Some of my cousins prefer using gin for their toddys.
It results in a very cold and sweet drink that has some serious kick to it.

That's pretty much what I was looking for. Thanks poodle it's served over ice not served hot. My family is from Plaquemines and sure I got a little tako in me.

Halve 25 lemons and put into 5 gallon spout cooler. Add 2 cups sugar. Mash all together. Add 2 handles of whiskey and 3 gallons of water. Stir. Add ice. Enjoy. Don't drive.
