I don’t have anything special. I do like the Jiffy cornbread recipe. I add sliced jalapeños and some of the juice from the jar. They are always a crowd pleaser when we make them.
1 pack jiffy cornbread mix
1 egg
1/4 cup flour
1/3 cup onion

Please dont use Jiffy. Ever.
Heavy D's Hush Puppies
1 Cup Yellow Corn Meal
½ Cup Plain Flour
3 Teaspoon Baking Powder
3 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
Salt & Pepper To Taste
1 Egg
1 Can Cream Style Corn
5 Green Onions
1 Large Jalapeno
Mix all ingredients in bowl and refrigerate. Works best cold, balls stay together better. Cook at temperature lower than your fish (300 is good, maybe 280)….Spoon out balls of cold mixture into the grease. Keep a can of water handy to wash spoon between dips….wet spoon dips better.

This is my favorite. Never had anyone say otherwise.
Straight out of Mike Anderson's cook book:
1TB Salt
2 teaspoons cayenne
1.5 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1.5 cups evaporated milk
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1/2 cup finely chopped green bell peppers
1.5 cups finely chopped yellow onions
2.5 cups yellow cornmeal
1 cup self-rising flour
Cottonseed Oil
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except oil. Mix well. Heat cottonseed oil to 350 degrees. Drop hushpuppy mixture into hot oil by spoonfuls. Fry 4-6 mins.
Serves 6-8 people
