Are any places open serving Thanksgiving dinner on the actual day.

It's just my mom and I this year here in Baton Rouge, and she's too fragile to come all the way out to the boonies where I live. I'd like to pick her up from her assisted living facility on Thanksgiving and take her to a nice traditional meal, if there's any place that does that in town now. Doesn't have to be fancy, just something so that she's not stuck eating old folks home food that day.

In addition to those, I think casino restaurants have thanksgiving dinner and I would bet Cracker Barrel does as well.

Believe it or not, Cracker Barrel does a really good traditional Thanksgiving meal. The old folks love it.

Guests who wish to gather around Cracker Barrel’s roaring fireplace to create memories with family and friends on Thanksgiving Day can enjoy a traditional Homestyle Turkey n' Dressing Meal, complete with roasted turkey breast, cornbread dressing and gravy, country green beans, sweet potato casserole topped with pecans, cranberry relish and more. Cost: $14.99 (dine in or to-go) on Nov. 24 starting at 11 a.m.

I went to Copelands one year for Thanksgiving Day. It was a delicious roasted real turkey (not deli sliced turkey meat) with all the sides and trimmings. Everything was included in one dinner price...including dessert and non-alcoholic beverage. It was reasonably priced and very good.

I will say from experience that you better be prepared to wait a long time or you need to go at an off-time.

That is awesome of you to offer, and if it was possible, I'd be glad to take you up on it. Unfortunately, she can't ride in a car that long. Even riding out to my place outside Clinton is too much, unfortunately. She's got serious pain issues with degenerative disc in her neck and can't handle the trauma anymore of long excursions.
