Baton Rouge area boudin ratings

Some of you may recall my boudin run a few months back. Well, this morning I decided to do a "Best of Baton Rouge" version. I blindly sampled samples from the best-known places in the area, and this is how they rated:
1. Benoit's Country Meat Block
2. Ronnie's
3. Iverstine Butcher
4. Bergeron's
5. Jerry Lee's
6. Hebert's
7. Bellue's
8. Tony's Seafood
I also had some from Veron's in Lutcher, but it was so salty it was barely edible.

regular or smoked at Ronnie’s?
I think the smoked is superior to most but for whatever reason the regular isn’t that great

I bought both varieties, but for tasting purposes, I used the regular.

I’ll take Riverside in plaquemine over those. Only about ten minutes from Benoit’s.

Agree. Their smoked is my favorite boudin, especially if putting it on a grill for a few minutes

Should have rode an extra 15 minutes to Day's after you picked up Jerry Lee's

Just a note on two of those places:
Bellue’s will deep fry a link and I think it’s pretty awesome.
Tony’s - I think the best version of their boudin is their seafood boudin balls. Don’t care much for their regular balls or boudin itself.

Ronnie's smoked is the tits. I've met and shot the shite with Ronnie at the Ponchatoula location several times about smoking briskets. Cool dude. Not too fond of his ribs though. Mainly the seasoning he uses. He uses a Salt Onion Garlic mix. Ribs were great but wasn't a fan of the seasoning he uses (personal preference). Still a nice guy nonetheless.

I've had Day's in the past and thought it was pretty mediocre. Maybe I need to give it another shot.

I picked up a bunch of Bergeron’s regular boudin yesterday. I wasn’t all that impressed.

Seems like the proper way. Smoking can make even subpar shite taste pretty good.
True measure of a place’s ability to make boudin is to get the regular without the bells and whistles (smoked, pepper Jack cheese, etc). Not that those are bad things.

This. I love them hot and crispy when they first put them out.

If Bergeron's isn't last on your list, then your list is as shite as their boudin!
P.S. I don't mean to be a jerk, just felt it necessary to express my feelings that hard about how god awful their boudin is. lol

Hey look who's back! Whats up buddy?

You're right, it's not good. Just goes to show how terrible the others on the list are.

Hard to beat a hot Ronnie's boudin ball
