Baton Rouge finally gets a Korean restaurant and it sadly has issues

Yerin Korean Grill opened where the China One was located on Siegen (around the corner from Total Wine).
A group of us tried to go a few weeks ago and when we walked in we were told it was over an hour wait for food and the place was pretty packed. No worries, we would try again later.
Well fast forward to this Friday and I placed a large to-go order for the group. Couldn't find a phone number for the place and finally found a number online. Turned out to be the owner's cell phone, which they were wondering how I got this number.
Placed order and was told 30 minutes. Picked my buddy up on the way and we showed up on time for the food order. The restaurant still has all the old China One decor up and there were two people eating in the restaurant. We walk up to get our food and we are told it's not ready. One bag is sitting on the counter and they are working on the rest of it. So we wait another 20 minutes for the food. There is only one person working in the kitchen and one person working the register. Huge issue with getting food out on time.
We get the food and go back to his house to eat with our wives. The food was just mostly disappointing.
Bibimbap - bland
Yangyum Chicken - chicken wings in sauce, steamed due to wait and soggy
kimchi pancake - probably the best thing
fried dumplings - tasted like costco dumplings, soggy
kimchi stew - this was so spicy my friend couldn't eat it, and he likes very spicy foods. I tried it because so do I, and it was so hot there's no way I could eat a bowl of it. Funny enough it was the same spice level as the bibimbap, which was bland.
So I don't know what to say about this place but based on our experience I can't see them being around for long. Sucks because I love Korean food but this just has too many problems.

Maybe if they get some more staffing it might all be fixed?
I can see most of the kitchen issues stemming from having some poor dude back there trying to do it all? But then again, you said there were only a couple tables occupied….

Also, on yelp they have a FAQ picture up and one question is:
Are you going to get more help?
Yes we are in the process of getting more help. Thank you for your patience.
So maybe they are aware?

Yeah it was rough because it was one woman cooking and a younger guy working the front.
If they are doing a “takeout” business they have to get more help for sure. It’s needs to be quick like American Chinese because waiting an hour for takeout is a no-go, especially when it’s not even crowded

Wouldn’t be the end all for me if it was top notch and only place doing Korean. Just call ahead an hour before.

Sorry, let me rephrase. It would be a no-go if they told you your food was ready in 30 minutes and then you waited an extra 20-30 minutes while half your order got steamed and soggy.
All while the restaurant is basically empty.
Also this food wasn’t top notch so I agree I’ll wait for good food but this wasn’t it.

Yes. Agree.

But it's OK for curbside to get all their orders wrong

Their prices seem steep for what appears to be quick service Korean food

The Korean restaurant got the order wrong?

So you’re still arguing it’s ok for a restaurant to get 1/2 or an order wrong??

When did I ever say that was ok?

I've heard pretty much the same exact thing from every person I know who has gone there -- super slow and the food is very hit-or-miss (more miss than hit).

Sounds like a bad idea for a newish restaurant.
Plus sounds like some of the items may not be conducive to to-go orders.

I hear you but they're in business and up and running so they should be able to execute this order...especially when we were the only order at the time they were preparing.

That was another problem...their menu had a picture and a name, but no actual description. My wife, who doesn't like chicken wings, would never have ordered chicken wings had we known. From the pic it looked like cut up pieces with sauce.
It doesn't matter. Doubtful we'll be back.

what did the owner say when you told him of the issues you had with the food?

The owner didn't come back to my friend's house to eat with us, so I didn't say anything.

I don't feel like Korean food really is.
Plus, one of my favorite things about Korean dining are the myriad of little banchan dishes they bring out as gratis appetizers to snack on while waiting for everything else. That would be sort of lost in a takeout format.

He said tell that t00f MFer to stay away from my daughter.
