Sanctuary Lounge. I think they had a suit of armor by the front door. Weird place.

The White Horse closed at 2:00 am. So we drove down LA 30 to Ruth &Jim’s Country Place in Iberville Parish. No closing time. We stayed until the hunters and fishermen started coming in the next morning. Good times.

The Brass Rail on Highland Road, across the street from the White Horse. Friday afternoon happy hour started at 3:30 pm. 25 cent beer, bourbon or scotch. The cheap stuff, but just what a college student wanted to start the weekend. The worse was having a 3:30-4:30 class; constantly checking the clock, knowing that your friends were having a great time.

Where was that? I remember that name.
Oh, Mikes Bar and Grill off Sherwood will always be the place of my fondest bar memories. Friday night $5 calls pitchers. J.D and Coke, to blackout. Every.single.Friday.

Mid to late 90’s. Besides the obviously aforementioned original Caterie, Happy Note, Tabby’s, and the Bayou, Murphy’s.
The Rack on Greenwell Springs. A good old fashioned dive/pool bar.
Mike’s Grill? Or just Mike’s? Same guy that owned Sports back in the day. Trashier but more fun Milfs than the Cadillac cafe and superior grill milfs.
Viper Room near gardere on bluebonnet was a decent after hours spot
The pool hall/bowling alley in the union when they used to serve beer.

The Caterie
Southdowns
Uncle Earls
Tabby's Blues Box
Chris'
The Bengal
Murphy's
I think what is crazy is how long Fred's has been open. The list above from the '80s were all around when Fred's was open back then.

I still have my Alligator Hilton shirt that Miss Earline gave me, somewhere. Loved that place, with its lopsided pool table and free food on Sundays.
And what about Riverview Bar on Hoo Shoo Too? Used to go there for SR skip day
Snorkels was another favorite

Peppie's. Back in the 80s The Dick Nixon's opened for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers there when they were still doing the bar scene. I was good friends with the Nixons so I got to hang out in the back during a break. Blows my kid's minds that I got to hang back stage with the Peppers.

Thirsty Tiger ... best place to bring someone who wasn't your girlfriend.
The Bayou ... will thankfully live in eternity thanks to Sex, Lies and Videotape
The Art Bar ... incredible venue in the early 90's (later turned Spanish Moon, which seems done as well)

The Vineyard was on Coursey Blvd. between Sherwood and Stumberg.
