We ate at Big Bob’s today; we’re on a road trip, and didn’t care for the white sauce.

It must be an acquired taste. My wife and I love it and my young adult kids both hate it. My wife got online and read many different ways to make it. Whatever she came up with I think is better than Big Bobs white sauce.

The # of great BBQ joints in Houston has exploded in the last decade.

Boy this is so true. Until about a decade ago Houston did not have that much to offer that wowed you. Now they have really good BBQ options to eat at and I’m glad they do because I go there a lot for work.

Bob's is too creamy. I like it more on the vinegar side. Jim amd Nick's has a good one.

Interstate BBQ - Memphis, TN

If you are talking about Neely's their beef ribs are incredible.

I would say they are 'to die for' but I don't want to be responsible if someone dies traveling to get there. It's not exactly in the suburbs.

I agree, J&N has a better sauce. I bought a bottle of Big Bob's when I first heard about it, but didn't care for it. The sauce is so easy to make you can do your own and get it the way you want it. It's basically just mayo, vinegar, black pepper, and worchestershire. Makes a decent salad dressing too.

Best brisket - Miller’s in Belton
Best beef rib (and single best bbq item on the planet - Franklin
Best pork ribs - Killens. Also best dessert and sides
Best pork chop - Coopers in Llano
Best Barbacoa - Veras in Brownsville
Best burnt ends - Heim in FW
Best chicken - Snows

Biggest disappointment to me was probably Cattleack in Dallas

After living in Texas, Memphis style pales in comparison but my favorite Memphis place was bbq shop.

I smoke salmon with a pork rub and dip the finish product in white sauce. It is fantastic.

Pork BBQ: Speedi-Pig Fayetteville, GA. Pulled pork, brunswick stew, slaw, ribs, smoked wings, beans, all excellent.

Beef BBQ: Black’s Austin, TX. The beef ribs are unbelievable.

I've been to all of the popular Texas joints but I would have to say Cattleack in Dallas was my favorite.

Franklin's was good but Oklahoma Joe's was the most memorable I think.

Heirloom (Atlanta): damn good, thankfully it’s near my office. Love their mac-n-cheese
La Barbecue (Austin): great spot but not sure it was worth the long arse line
Craigs BBQ (De Valls Bluff, AR): middle of nowhere but great BBQ.

Some little dump in Steele Alabama.. Don't remember the name.. But on the menu it stated that the meal would feed 4 people or two hogs..

Edit.. I did have Salt Lick and it was pretty good..

Looks like Joe's has 3 votes and is leading the poll so far.

Roscoe's in Edwardsville (next to Bonner Springs) isn't too bad either.
