not asking about best sushi, but best hibachi and why do you say that (price, quality, atmosphere, scenery, etc.)

Probably Sakura on Essen.

Ichiban used to have some kickass hibachi chefs, but they left for other restaurants. I've had the chance to see the hibachi guys at Sakura, they're funny and have a lot of energy. They supposedly brought in their hibachi guys from New York.

I'm waiting for a special occasion so I can treat a whole group to a hibachi dinner there.

Like I said in another thread, last time I was in Ichiban, the hibachi guys looked about as happy to be there as DMV employees. That's what prompted me to ask the waitress what the story was, and she mentioned their better guys left.

I like Tokyo Cafe a lot. The chefs there make it a lot of fun too. Spring for the filet mignon

Now I need a reason to obtain an invite to this.

ETA---I have only had Ichiban hibachi in BR....the steak was fantastic for something so simple; however, the chef left much to be desired and did not even do tricks for us.

I've eaten the sushi there more than a few times, it's all really good. They have a great yellowtail dish, and cuts of fresh fish served around a martini glass that's ridiculously good.

As far as the atmosphere, it's a little unusual. They have white tablecloths because they obviously want it to have an upscale look, but this just looks strange (IMO) in a sushi restaurant. I suppose they couldn't go with an Ichiban vibe without totally renovating the building (changing the walls and decor in the dining area). But the room with the sushi bar doesn't look anything like the rest of the restaurant, and I only eat at the sushi bar.
