I like Nino’s, but I hesitate to call it Italian. Nothing I’ve eaten there reminds me of food I ate in Italy or of typical American Italian

Certainly not "Italian American" (which is Sicilian), but where did you travel in Italy? A significant portion of their menu could be found in the majority of restaurants in northern Italy.

Ate at Ginos while traveling. It was very good. The service was excellent.

Been a while since I've eaten there.

As for Gino's, you can catch Pokie Pocorello there a few times a week.

Hope all is well with you and yours Sir Drinks!

Kinda hard to believe, but not much “true” Italian in BR.

What do you call true Italian?

Quality, select ingredients, many from Italy, hand made pasta, unique herbs, authentic cooking techniques, etc.
As opposed to places that claim to Italian just because they serve pasta in some kind of sauce.

What’s a restaurant in another city that you’d call true Italian? I’d like to visit.

Genuinely curious but I noticed Little village or Ruffino's wasn't talked about in here. Still any good or went downhill?

Loved Gino’s when I could go there during college, and now when I go back to BR.

It gets hate but Monjunis is great. Some people dont like the sweet sauce but i grew up on it. The lasagna is top notch and there is a dish that i would consider on of the best dishes I routinely eat anywhere.....The Cajun Shirmp Toast.

I like Monjuni's for what it is, but best in town? I don't know about that.

Gino's gets my vote, but Sal and Judy's is the best in the state, imo.

I have never liked Little Village. The red gravy is acidic as hell. I was in there with my Sicilian grandmother once and she tasted the red gravy and she told the waitress that it wasn't a gravy, lol. Then she told all of us at the table not to order anything with the red sauce. But, I guess others enjoy it, so to each their own.

I honestly have never enjoyed any of the Stabiler restaurants. They always seem like they are middle-class in service and food, but dress themselves up as first class.

I still think Ruffinos is good, but I do believe it's not quite the same.

Some friends invited me to Ruffino's, New Years Eve. The food was great, all agreed that everything we had was very good.

Little Village is still good, no problems there.

Gino's is still hard to beat, the Crawfish Pasta and Crawfish Arancini, are some of the best you'll taste.

Not a restaurant, but I love Canatella Grocery. There are lots of prepared meals, like their meatballs, sauce, lasagna, eggplant parmesan, and many more that are very good. Their grocery selection is clearly Italian. Their sandwiches are all truly Italian. I think it's one of the best Italian eatery/ locations in the city.

When it came to Italian Groceries, Pocorellos a their Muffuletta were hard to beat. They made their own Italian Sausage, the mixture to me, was one of the better. I still get to see Pokie once or twice a month.
