We have a function, and I won't have time to cook. So where is the best in the greater baton rouge area? Tia

Pot and Paddle is much better than Jambalaya Shoppe

It's funny how their taste varies from location to location.

Some Jambalaya Shoppe locations do pork and smoked sausage instead of chicken and sausage.
Chicken in jambalaya is terrible.

Truth! The one in denham sucks- or did the one time I went years ago. Maybe it’s better now

the jambalaya shoppes are individually owned and yes some are better then others
definitely get the pork over the chicken jambalaya

Rice and Roux has a pretty good one

None of the "shops" around Baton Rouge are good. They all serve bland rice, not jambalaya.
The best jambalaya is made on the side of the road when people do fundraisers.

So funny, did you just think of that?
I always laugh when I see he posts this in every which is best thread. It's pretty much a running joke.

I've never understood how Gonzales is supposed to be the Jambalaya Capital of the World, yet they have zero places that specialize in jambalaya.

See if you can order some from Bergerons on Jefferson. My favorite jambalaya in the city.

Where do you think Jambalaya Shoppe started?
Also Pot and Paddle.

Neither of which are anything special.

Maybe not but you said there isn’t a single place that specializes in jambalaya in Gonzales. There are 2.
The Jambalaya shoppe in Gonzales is better than the Baton Rouge locations in my opinion. Pot and paddle has pretty good lunch specials. It’s just simple food at cheap prices which is why they both have done very well over the years. I have learned to never go late in the evening, the jam is best for lunch when it’s fresh.

I guess my point is that there are no places in Gonzales that really have the top-caliber world champion level jambalaya that they brag about. I figured they'd have some of those world championship competitors selling at various places, kinda similar to the andouille places in Laplace or boudin places in Scott.
