The flight my wife and I had from Atlanta to St Thomas was outstanding. Grilled chicken, long grain rice, broccoli and carrots with salad and bread

Back in the 60's when you boarded any plane, they would ask you if you wanted steak or fish. Then again, they also asked you if you wanted a smoking or non smoking section which didn't matter, because you had working cigarettes in the same small breathing space. Imagine 30 people smoking on a plane with the same air being circulated throughout the cabin for hours.
I always got the steak which tasted like cigarettes.
Best meal I've ever had? I forget what larger city I was coming from, but I purchased a sashimi sampler to go, and also a bottle of premium ginjo sake (this was pre 9/11 when you could carry this stuff on board) and ate like a king on the way home.
ETA: Back in the day they would hand out metal steak knives. How the times have changed.

Got on a Delta fight in '93 after a month in Russsia, I don't remember what it was, but I know it was the best...

When it was standard to have a meal on a flight, a guy was sitting next to me who was awoken by the stewardess who asked, "Would you like lunch?" The sleepy passenger asked, "What are my options?" The stewardess's response, "Uh.. YOU'RE options are "yes" or "no".

Some kind of chicken salad on a trip to Europe, came with hummus and some pita chips or something too.

Indian curry
That seems pretty dangerous given the limited bathroom situation

A long time ago I accompanied a client (who was paying) in first class on a KLM flight to Amsterdam. It was amazing. You had your choice of French/Continental, Italian or "U.S." (steak, etc.). Lots of booze . . . whatever you wanted (other than the hot Dutch flight attendants).
