Best Muffuletta in NOLA

I’ll start by apologizing because I just did a thread asking for where to get the best roast beef poboy in NOLA not long ago. I promise this will be my last question about “where to get food in NOLA” for a while.
My friends that are coming to NOLA with us for the first time asked that we go somewhere to get a muffuletta. I am actually not a huge fan (it’s an olive thing for me) so I’m not sure where to bring them.
Central Grocery?
TIA.

Central Grocery is not open. They do sell their sandwiches at some grocery stores.
My personal favorite is R&O's. The olive salad has a little kick to it.

R&O’s was the general consensus for the roast beef poboy as well. We could kill two birds with one stone that way.

Thinking of something in a different direction, would DiMartino's on De Gaulle or down in Terrytown be an option? Just thinking that your guests might enjoy the ride over the GNO to the Best Bank.
ETA: Return on the Chalmette Ferry. Just make sure it is running, it is NOLA after all.

Friend,
Friend,
10. Napoleon House - the only heated muffuletta in the top 10.
9. Martin's Deli & Bistro
8. Come Back Inn (request cold)
7. Lovecchio's (long trip to Norco, but it's the best sandwich within 20 miles)
6. Frank's (not the original, but is delicious)
5. World Deli (request cold)
4. Nor Joe's (good, but isn't as great as most Old Metairites say)
3. Gendusa's (request cold)
2. DiMartino's (delivered by family)
1. Central Grocery (the ones being made under that name are not nearly as good as the ones from the actual grocery which is soon to open)
Yours,
TulaneLSU
There’s no real secret to a good muffuletta. Get Central Grocery olive mix, a loaf from Gendusa’s Bakery, which were $2 each, and good deli meats. Let them sit together for a few hours and serve at room temperature. I would not put R&O’s roast beef poorboy in my top ten nor its muffuletta anywhere near my top ten. Decent fried seafood and good shrimp salad, though.

Don’t sleep on mother’s muff and her ability to toss salad.

You should be banned as your vainglorious posts are getting worse with each food reply.

Friend,
Mother makes a very good muffuletta using the ingredients and technique listed above. If you go to the side entrance at Gendusa’s Bakery during open hours they will gladly sell you both muffuletta rounds and poorboy loaves at a very good price and right out of the oven. Gendusa’s supplies the best bread in the city for both of her trademark sandwiches.
Mother’s salads are not particularly good, however. But her roast is wonderful and applied to a loaf of Gendusa’s poorboy bread with some Crystal splashed on at the last minute, is an exceptional version of the poorboy. Sometimes she will serve the sandwich with the roasted carrots and potatoes from the roast tucked neatly in the loaf, which are better than lettuce and tomato.
Yours,
TulaneLSU
P.S. When did Central Grocery reopen?

For my money:
DiMartino's
R&O's
Gendusa's
Napoleon House
Butcher
No particular order.
Also, frick a cold muffuletta, and frick TulaneLSU's opinions of R&O's as well.

Friend,
To be fair, each quarter is the equivalent in weight to a six inch Italian hoagie. Central does not skimp on quality either. Although it is hard not to eat an entire Central Grocery sandwich in one sitting, it should probably feed four.

Mo’s in Westwego has the best hot muffuletta, IMO.
