what is the boards opinion on the best place to buy a steak in Metairie/New Orleans area?
I usually buy from costco or whole foods. though whole foods prices are ridiculous.
Rouses meat recently is nothing special and Dorginacs seems very hit or miss when i go.

It's not prime or anything, but Zuppardo's has a good meat department. They still (I think) sell Certified Angus Beef, which is pretty good. You will find some great steaks there. My personal favorite is Sirloin.

If your are looking for something new try Emmett's specialty meats in Harahan. They also dry age their steaks.

Whole Food, hands down
LOL. Sure, if you want to throw away money for the exact same meat you can get at Rouses.

you cant really believe that, can you? I live within a 2 miles of 3 different rouses. Im there 3x a week and buy steak often. They are good but certainly do not have the quality or selection that WF has.

I expect those kind of comments on the OT. LOL
The standard response is damn hipsters like paying 4 times as much as the same stuff you can get from Krogers and Walmart.
They have obviously never really looked at produce, meat, cheese, and seafood and really compared.
I'm not a Whole Foods regular shopper just for the record

Best combination of quality, selection and price is found at Costco imo
Emmett's sells choice meat but overcharges be it's a "butcher shop"

Agreed. Been there a few times and it is unimpressive and zero help from that guy.

Whole Foods probably...but Fresh Market on St. Charles has a nice Rib Eye.

Are yall tellin me there isnt a butcher at a locally owned place in NOLA/Met that cuts his own prime beef? That you have to go to Costco or Whole Foods?

The local and some national chain places down here have pretty damn good meat selections.
It is tough for a butcher shop of any kind to make it work
Edit. Sorry if I misunderstood, but yes several local grocery stores have pretty good meat dept
