Best place to buy fish? Primarily Pacific salmon

Looking to get more fish back into my diet. I primarily eat salmon and anything wild caught, nothing farm raised. I see a lot of food delivery companies that offer pretty quality salmon but it runs up to almost $30/lb which seems a big much. Even Costco has some expensive fish and most of it is labeled farm raised.
Anyone familiar with shopping through online? Or do most of yall buy straight from grocery stores?

I love buying those whole fillets of Atlantic farm raised salmon from Sam's and cutting them into smaller fillets for cooking or just eating it straight raw

Costco has wild caught Pacific Salmon. Usually $10-12/lb

Most grocery stores have wild caught, usually sockeye, but sometimes King (expensive) or Coho. I usually buy from Whole Foods just because its close to my house. I can usually get sockeye for about $16/lb at WF and might save a couple $/lb at Kroger or Tom Thumb.

Whole Foods when it in season.
The Alaskan King salmon is over$30/lb. Sockeye is cheaper.

I absolutely love King salmon. It's far superior to any other salmon. I try to buy a bunch when it goes on sale, portion it out, vacuum seal and freeze it. Whole Foods recently had it on sale for about $20/lb.

How does sockeye compare to king, in terms of flavor and texture? I've never had sockeye before, but I've seen it everywhere.
Have caught and eaten fresh King salmon from a fishing trip we did.

Overall king salmon should be at least $8-$10 per lb more than sockeye. Flavor unmatched.

So, you want to know where to buy fish, but more Pacifically you want salmon.

Thank you.
I'll eventually buy some sockeye, cook it on a cedar plank, and see for myself.
The king salmon I caught myself in Alaska, and within a week, cooked it myself here, was the best salmon I've ever had, better than at any restaurant.
Fish lovers, food lovers, and outdoor lovers....Alaska must be on your bucket list.

Pretty much all Atlantic Salmon is farmed; so if you're looking for wild-caught salmon, always avoid Atlantic Salmon. Fish farming is banned in Alaska, so all appropriately labeled Alaskan Salmon (including Sockeye, Coho, and King) is wild-caught salmon.
Order it straight from here.

Don't know where you are at but Restaurant Depot has wild salmon for about $9 a lb.

Color looks great. Going to chop it up and cook tonight. $9.99/lb at Costco. Only other thing I saw was the pre-packaged salmon in bags for just under $12/lb.

Probably not what you're looking for, but in the way to GI I noticed a new seafood market has opened up. It's in Des Allemands, next to the Spahrs, it's called 3 Piers.
I got yellowfin, scallops and shrimp.
They had just broken the yellowfin down. He brought out a whole loin he hadn't even had a chance to trim yet. It was as fresh as it gets without catching it yourself.
He raved about his scallops, said they were flown in from Boston. They were the best scallops I've had from a market or grocery, on par with anything I've had at a nice restaurant. They were super fresh and had a great sea smell, I'll be picking up some more this week.
Shrimp were a nice size, probably 16-20ct. They were as good as you would expect down there, no complaints.
They had a whole assortment of coastal fish like drum, sheepshead and flounder, either whole or fillets. Also had Escolar, halibut and salmon. He said they will order anything that anyone wants. I think he said everything comes in whole except the halibut and he breaks it down from there.
It's not a big place, and it's probably out of the way for most people, but it's a nice seafood market and I'm glad they opened up. People there were super friendly...I think it's the same family that owns spahrs.

This sounds worthy of an excursion from NOLA. We are so lacking in respectable seafood markets with a decent variety of fish.
