Bought an incredible prime ribeye from Iverstine’s and sous vide it to 130 and seared over charcoal.

I’ll be honest, if I’m craving steak I’ll do that and not pay $40-$50 it would have commanded at a restaurant

Also, for a cheaper option that doesn’t help at all, the flank steak at Superior Grill is excellent

We get the Steak and Eggs every time we do brunch there. It is a very decent plate of food.

No offense I tried Iverstines twice. First one, not good. I gave them a mulligan on that one. I went the second time, no improvement. Their prime steaks are not good. I'll stick with Maxwells or Tramonte's.

As far as best steak house in BR, no question for me it's Ruth Chris.

I do agree on the flank at Superior though.

A few weeks ago I’d totally agree with you. I swore off their beef and stuck to their other products. Then one day I went in and they had these beautifully marbled ribeyes in the counter and I got one. Was fantastic and nothing like my other steak experiences with them.

Not cheap though so I understand the hesitancy.

Stab's was...without a doubt...one of the worst meals I've ever had in Baton Rouge. I can certainly see why they were only 50% full at 7:00pm on a Friday night.

They're supposed to be a steakhouse --- and they are, but their best dishes aren't beef related.

Yep. On a somewhat different note I might have had one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten last weekend at Ruth Chris in Biloxi. Cowboy ribeye with the truffle and Parmesan crust. It was perfect.

Amazing pepper sear on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside. Topped with lump crab meat. Now I'm hungry again

Well shite. Wish I had known that when I ate there for the first time a few weeks ago.

I ended up getting the fried soft shell crab which had capers on it. I hate capers and must have overlooked it in the description.

Now I know for next time. Steak, rare, with crab.

only place that is more overrated is Doe’s

Not one mention of Does above seems to confirm that

So it's overrated and yet nobody rated it. Makes sense lol

The Little Village is the best I've had, by far, and I've been to both locations several times and the consistency is amazing!

The Little Village
Stabb's
Mansur's
Sullivan's
Doe's
Tsunami

Never had Ruth's to compare it to though.

i find it odd no one mentions Flemings.

I have oddly enough never eaten at Ruth's Chris, so can't say anything about them.
Sullivans and Stab were mediocre to me. I could make a steak as good as them, and i didn't really care for the service. I wasn't impressed with J Alexanders either.

I can't make a ceaser salad or a filet like Flemings does, and their service is top notch, every time. I am satisficed every time i eat at Flemings.
I think it was the second time we ate there and i had the filet and they asked me how it was and i said "this might sound weird, but it almost taste like an incredibly fresh piece of raw tuna the way it melts in your mouth" and the waiter said that's actually probably the best compliment you could give for a filet. I compare pretty much any steak i eat to Flemings Filet, and i've yet to encounter one as good, but i do hear Ruth's Chris is the best.

I’ve been to the Flemings in BR twice, and it was terrible both times.

Ruth’s is the clear #1 in Baton Rouge.

Flemings is OK but I've never gone their on my own, usually because a friend suggested it.And they usually have a coupon or some discount.

Doe's is good but not the best.

Agree on Ruth's. It's the best in BR.

I guess what I don't understand is some of the recommendations such as Little Village, Tsunami, etc. I guess you go if that's what you want but if I'm going to Tsunami, its for the sushi. If you go to Little Village, you're looking for Italian. I don't understand how you make those selections at some of the places people list. But whatever floats your boat.

Sullivans is the worst in BR. Followed closely by Stabbs. And they are supposed to be steakhouses.

Marcello’s is my favorite steak in Lafayette, despite being an Italian restaurant.

To be "fair" Sullivan's doesn't serve a prime cut of meat, although they are in the same ballpark with pricing.

I like their Stone Crabs when they get them. The atmosphere is what used to make Sullivan's. Plus, when Leo was there, he and his staff were excellent at hospitality. We always use to bring our kids there for their birthday, because they made it special for us.

Side note, I do believe Sullivan's has the best Lobster Bisque in town, followed by Ruth's.

Fleming's has gone downhill, in my opinion. The only thing I ever order from there when I go (and that's not too often) is their pork chop and chocolate molten lava cake. It's my favorite dessert in town.

The only "prime" steakhouse in Baton Rouge that has always remained consistent is Ruth's Chris.

Sad to hear. They had a great run from 2005 to about 2009 in my opinion.

Don't sleep on the ribeye and creamed spinach at French Market Bistro. Very legit.

Ruth’s and it’s not close

It is close, very. Ruth's, with all the sizzle and great sides gave up on dry aged beef years ago, now it's all wet aged, whatever that is. If you want the deep concentrated beef flavor that only comes from dry aging, you can't get it from RC.

I quit chasing that flavor at restaurants a while back, when Rouse's opened near me I saw the dry aged prime rib on sale for $20 a lb, I took one home, sous vide and sear, I was in heaven.

I will not pay RC's prices for "wet aged" beef, if I go there it is for other reasons.
