Several more days if you keep them cold and out of the water.I've carried them close to a week before...they'll just begin to get "dry" as time passes. How were they?

Depends on how old they were when you bought them.
There should be a tag on them with a date.
5 days should not be a problem.
Like OT said, you'll know when they are bad.

I take no chances with raw oysters. I love them but the sickest I have ever been came from raw oysters at Mike Andersons. And I didn't know they were bad..

Raw oyster should have a shelf life of 14 days or more (depending on the time of the year) from harvest date(on the harvest tag on the sack or box of oysters). To be safe, anything 10 days or less after the harvest date should be fine. By the time the restaurant/seafood market gets it is usually 2-3 days after harvest day to give you an idea.

Boss, if they've been soaking, I'd chunk them. They've been sucking fresh water....yeilds a bad oyster. When you have leftovers, keep them on ice, but keep them out of the melting water.
