Was passing through Port Barre today, no ticket thank God, and swung into this place on a recommendation from a friend. That bread is amazing! Is there a place in the BR area that makes something similar? I've seen jalapeno cheese bread before but never with the sausage too. Also picked up some homemade sausage. Going to try that in a jambalaya. Only pic I could find since I don't know how to post pics on here.

They make a lot of different sausages too.
Boudin is pretty darn good and graton aren't bad either.

Ambrosia makes a good jalapeno, sausage, cheese biscuit.
Calandro's makes jalapeno cheese bread, but I don't remember seeing it with sausage?

A top 3 boudin for me.
I used to live in Port Barre. The boudin is very good at times but I found it to be hit and miss. I would never turn it down though. I always stop at Billy's in opelousas since I seldom go through Port Barre anymore.

Billy’s in Op is my #1. So easy to get in and out with excellent boudin and cracklings.

Bourque’s meatloaf is one of the best store bought foods you can find. They bread you speak of is great, too. Underrated, off the map kinna spot.

Yes, we have Jalapeño cheese bread that looks very similar to that and is delicious at Calandro's

One time I stopped at Bourque's for lunch and got a link of hot boudin, a side of potato salad, and a small order of that delicious cheese bread. One of the finest meals I've had that was super cheap.

I actually prefer Bourque's boudin over Billy's. I also love their bread pudding, some of the best I've found.
I always take Hwy. 190 instead of I-10 when I travel from BR to Lafayette, so that I can make stops at Kartchner's, Billy's, and Bourque's.

We had a salesman's that use to bring us jalapeno cheesy bread from Earl's. That stuff was so good! I sure do miss them snacks.

Bourques bread is awesome, one question though... Do you store the leftover bread on the kitchen counter or fridge overnight?

Traveling west on 190 from BR has to be one of the best rural food trails in the country.

That bread is awesome and as others have mentioned they make some pretty solid sausages in there as well. Love to use their sausage in my gumbo. Adds some great flavor.

I left it on the counter in the bag and ate it over a few days time. I haven't died yet.
