I humbly come before the FDB to ask your recommendations of a good breakfast/brunch spot in the Lafayette area, or at least north of New Iberia. We will be in town from central MS for a wedding shower and looking for a good spot. I plan on hitting LeJeune’s bakery in Jeanerette for some French bread, and several places in Scott for some boudin. Any recommendations for a Sunday morning breakfast/brunch would be greatly appreciated.

ETA: my dad found a place called T-Coon’s on google that was rated 4.5/5 with about 1000 reviews. But I figured you guys and gals could narrow it down for us.

I prefer Social to T-Coon's for brunch, but T-Coon's is pretty good.

The French Press used to be pretty good, but it’s been at least five years since we’ve been. Ema’s Cafe is also decent.

I hate to start an argument because I know how y’all feel about your boudin down that way, but is there anything i can’t miss outside of best stop, Billy’s, and kartchner’s? I remember someone mentioning chicken skins. Someone remind me where I get those? Thanks in advance, and I also apologize for the strong opinions that will overtake the next 10-15 posts

I’ve tried the chicken cracklins from three places. Kirk’s U Need a Butcher, NuNu’s, and Hebert’s on Ambassador in Broussard. My favorites were the ones from Kirk’s, because they are not battered, but just seasoned and fried. If battered and fried is what you want, try the other two.

Darla is spot on, Kirk's has the best chicken cracklins.

Edie’s biscuits. Their fried catfish is like crack to me.

Pretty sure Kirk’s originated chicken cracklins. Edie’s has a good breakfast but it gets very crowded , space is very limited.

Dwyer’s is downtown on Jefferson St. Solid groceries, been around since 1927 Market Eatz also has great food

May as well hit up NuNu's and The Best Stop while you are in the area. Report back to us and let us know how you rank them.

These would be my top 3

Unfortunately for the OP, Rusted Rooster is closed on Sundays. Social and Johnson's Boucaniere are 2 other good brunch options

*Johnsons is open some Sundays

Chicken cracklins from Hebert’s in Broussard. (NuNu’s chicken cracklins look and taste very similar.)

From Kirk’s on Surrey Street in Lafayette.

All good, but Kirk’s is my preference.
