Anyone ever eaten here? A little out of the way for the beach crowd but locals seem to love it. Pretty cool story too.

From Louisiana to Alabama
Gerald Ardoin grew up Opelousas, La. -- a city of less than 20,000 people just north of Lafayette and about an hour west of Baton Rouge in the southern half of Louisiana -- where his father ran a neighborhood grocery and then a furniture store before opening a restaurant, Ardoin’s Seafood, in 1979.

Never been, or heard of it. However, Opelousas is pretty damn Cajun.

I’ve been a couple times with BamaCoaster. Food is excellent from a Louisiana standpoint and Gerald is a gracious host. Well worth it to stop on your way to or from the beach.

Agreed. Great food and Gerald is a cool cat. Also, Boudreaux's in Daphne does a fine job with authentic Cajun cooking.

I’ve been several times.
Gerald and his wife are incredibly genuine people, and great ambassadors of LA.
Food is great.
Best part about the place is it’s next to a church so they can’t get liquor license, but you can bring your own booze. Cheap date night.
