Guy I used to work with would always bring out a chip beef cheese ball for our Christmas party. He passed on and I never got the recipe.

Hoping one of you fine gentleman have a good cheese ball recipe?? Preferably chipped beef recipe.

What’s your go to cracker for the cheese ball?? I’m old school and it’s hard to beat a plain Ritz.

Dried beef cut into small pieces like bacon bits.

Had plenty of cheese balls in my life, but have never seen one with chipped beef.

Weird.

You mean dried beef. The dish chipped beef is made from dried beef which I think is where your getting confused. My mom and mother in law both make that type of cheese ball for most events

Not a guy, but I saw this one on Facebook not so long ago. I've never had this cheeseball, but when I searched there were many many recipes, so I assume it's popular.

Cream Cheese & Dried Beef Cheese Ball
2 8oz packages cream cheese, softened
1 jar dried beef, chopped
2 cloves minced garlic
3 green onions, chopped
Mix all ingredients. Use as a spread or form into a ball using parchment and refrigerate at least 1 hour.

You could also cover the outside with pecans or some kind of cheese. I'd probably use more garlic and green onions, though it may not need extra. I've never tasted chipped beef.

Yeah, I meant dried beef in a jar that’s been chipped/diced.

shite on a Shingle. A WWII Navy classic, and hence a classic in the Lemmy household as a kid.

Not just Navy & not just WWII

I never had SoS in Army Basic at Polk in late 60's, but I did at Ft. Gordon Ga. It was made with real dried and chopped beef in a cream sauce... not bad. The beef may have been WWII vintage. Later at Ft. Bragg our mess hall put it out for breakfast a couple of days a week using fried ground beef... tasty but whole different texture.

At the grocery, you usually can find jars of Hormel or Armour chipped beef close to Vienna sausage and canned corned beef.
