Ate there today for a late lunch/early dinner on my way home to Bham. Nice locale. I like the menu and the meal I ordered was very good. Some baw in there was drinking martinis like it was his job at 4PM.

Tried to hit up Flying Tiger brewery for some take home beers, but they were closed on Tuesday.

Disagree. Flying Tiger is worth a stop if you’re in the area. The beers are decent enough and it’s a cool spot to hang out.

It is a cool spot to hang out. I was taking about the “decent enough beer” part.

I enjoyed everything I drank there. Nice people, too.

It’s a great spot with nice, accommodating staff. I’ve always enjoyed the beer, too.

I used to frequent Cotton years ago when I had a client in Monroe. It was good back then, glad it’s still solid.

ETA: did Cory leave? Looks like he has another restaurant in Monroe now (Parish Restaurant), which looks very good.

The Jucee (pale ale) is pretty good. You can buy it in cans in stores.

Yea, he’s been gone from Cotton for a while now. And Parish is fantastic. Best food in Funroe, if you can get a table. Last night we could not and ended up at the Warehouse. Which is good too

It’s been probably 9-10 years since I’ve been to Monroe, but I almost want to go just to eat there

I was just driving through, but Monroe appeared to be pretty cool. Granted, I’m comparing it to Shreveport and New Orleans as the only two cities in LA I’ve been too.

I was a fan of Nonna too when i was around up there.

I will go to my grave with this take, Monroe has a much better food scene than it deserves.

This is very true.

Parish, Cotton, Warehouse, River Grille, Portico's, Miro's, Genusa's, Mohawk Tavern, Gino's, Waterfront (my personal favorite) are all really good local restaurants.

What the frick is this supposed to mean? I would counter that Monroe people deserve good food options since they have to live in Monroe. But really, I’ve been back in Monroe for a few after splitting the previous 25 between Laffy and NOLA. Monroe pound for pound is probably 3rd in the state for food options behind those two.

Right. And to add to that: Okaloosa, Trios, Fat Pelican, Cormiers, Trapps, Enochs, Catahoula’s, 2Dudes BBQ, Jacs Smokehouse, Does, Melvins, Braizen, and Don Tomas are all worth a stop.

Daily Press isn't winning any James Beard awards and in a different category but that place rules for what it is.

My customer recommended Burger Grind, but didn't want another burger.

Johnny’s is too good for this clientele. And gene cox makes a damn fine chicken burger patty.
