Date Night in BR

My wife and I are doing a date night Saturday night and are looking for good suggestions.
After living here for years, the restaurant scene can often turn into a blur of the same old same old restaurants.
We love places like Lagniappe, French Market Bistro, Mansurs, Ruth’s and all but are always interested in getting a great meal at a “new” or unknown place.
Any off the radar suggestions for a great meal in BR?

Just ate at Nino’s for NYE. Always a good meal and service

Have you been to Latils Landing at Houmas House?

Ate at Roberto’s a few weeks ago and loved it. Ninos is great too - haven’t been there in a while.
No to Latil’s Landing. Good?

Yes, it is in one of the best plantation homes in Louisiana.
The grounds are incredible. 3 restaurants on the grounds, Latil's has small dining rooms with a couple of tables in each room. I recommend getting there around an hour before dinner. Go to the turtle bar, get a drink or two and sit and chat or walk around the grounds.

quote:Is the parking situation and terrible road conditions out front slowly killing this place? I went the Thursday before Christmas and it was hard to find parking but the restaurant might have been 30% full. Not to mention they've started advertising on the radio...ouch.

There are quite a few places that advertise on local radio. It's a good thing to get your name out there. There have been many a decent place go belly up because they never advertised so no one knew about them.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. Its fine for just about every other place in the overpass area. I just don't know if thats the best place for a restaurant like that. Digulios does fine in that area as a nice restaurant, but there are also only like 10 tables

Its a shame if they close because its really good, and the bar is cool too. I've had some of my favorite meals at that place. Just too expensive to visit more than a couple times a year... I don't know much about restaurant marketing, but I feel like a better happy hour would do wonders for that place. With the amount of young professionals that live in the areas around you, and given how close they are to downtown, it just makes sense to me. Their current Happy hour is $6 glasses of wine from like 3-6. Its not enticing at all, and if you work till 5 you can't even make it there before 6. Do something like Olive or Twist. Having a packed bar would do wonders for that place IMO. Even if it means sacraficing a couple dollars of profit on some drinks

Look, I love Gino's, but it's not even the best Italian in the city.
ETA: Ninos if you are looking for Italian.
