Dixie Maid Drive-In in BR

This has got to be one of the most underrated burger joints in Baton Rouge. It's in the hood and the curb appeal ain't all that but I'll be hard pressed to find a better burger within 20 miles and I've tried them all. They also serve crushed ice with their fountain drinks which put my lemonade over the top 
I have been there before but went again today and was reminded that this is a BR staple.

I went there once on the advice of this board and was underwhelmed, to be honest. Seemed like a frozen patty (similar to the one below) and the tomatoes were half-ripe. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day. I’ll have to give them another try.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. White BR people love to brag about places nobody else knows about (EDIT- love to brag about eating in what they perceive to be “the hood”) even if the food is shite.

Like I said, I have tried all the burgers mentioned on this board. The burger at Dixie Maid is legit. Try it if you want, I'm just stating my opinion.

There’s no way that dollar store crumbly bun and wilted toppings and dry arse patty trumps Fleming’s HH burger. Not a chance.
And I love shitty burgers and am sure id like this one fine.

I tried it on the advice of this board.
I got the montezuma's revenge about 20 minutes later. I don't live in BR, so I suffered in a public restroom.

Why don’t you take your happy lilly white arse out there and try it before making judgement on a fricking picture.
I’ve been eating it for 40 years. It’s a good burger that when I’m in the area I stop in and eat.
