I got some "natural" PB from smuckers a while back and they recommended that I stir and refrigerate it.

I got some fresh ground from whole foods today...it doesn't appear to be near as oily (yet)

Should I refrigerate this?

My mom used to work in a health food store which made fresh peanut butter from peanuts, and they always said that it would go rancid faster if it was not refrigerated. Makes it hard to spread though, so you may want to take some out to sit at room temp a little while before you eat it.

I always do because I'm afraid of bacteria growing on it if I just leave it in the pantry. But you'll need to microwave it for a few seconds so its spreadable before you use it. I love that stuff YUM.

those natural oils will protect it a little longer than other foods. butI would say chill it just to be on the safe side.

Guess it's time to go rearrange the refrigerator in the office.

I wish I knew what food belonged to the HR woman so I could throw it all in the trash.

Had a buddy completely lose his shite one day and throw away everything out of his office fridge except for the spicy mustard.

And it started because his HR lady ate his candy bar.

yep CSB

I wouldn't actually do anything like that and I'm one of the few people that our HR lady actually likes because I kill her with kindness.

Anyway the last time I looked in there it was a complete mess so it might actually be difficult to squeeze this one small tub of PB in there. I'm not looking forward to it. Might get office rage or something.

I refrigerate mine because there are no preservatives.

I was thinking that might be a reason as well.

I wonder if I bought too much even for it being refreigerated.

At one place I worked, they would put a sign on the 'fridge every couple of months saying to clean out whatever you wanted by the end of the week; anything left on Friday afternoon would be tossed. So refreshing to see an empty refrigerator on Monday morning!

People keep our break room fridge pretty clear. The janitors throw out any food that has been in there for a week. The freezer hosts a lot of frozen stuff but the fridge is usually accessible.

Get some fresh celery and either dip it or slather on the PB for one of the healthiest and best tasting snacks ever. My PB never hangs around long because of this.

if you dont, it will just separate. you will have to stir it every time you use it.

It depends...I didn't get the honey roasted so it's just peanuts ground up into PB

I find it tastes different because it's not as sweet...

The honey roasted is probably sweet...

And I would say that the texture is more of a hybrid between smooth and chunky. No big chunks but it's not smooth like margarine.
