What will the Broccoli Casserole (River Road) be without it? Is pepperjack Velveeta a comparable substitute?

pepperjack velveeta is not the same as the garlic cheese from kraft......
they still make it....
where u shopping?
i am sure the pepperjack velveeta will work, just will have a distinctively different taste....

You could always go buy a new cookbook.
The New River Road edition just out has revised all recipes to use ingrediant currently avaliable.
Sorry thats all the help I can give today

Kraft discontinued it last year.
Cornbread, here's a blog with an alternative. Also an article in the Advocate last year suggested just using Velveeta with some finely chopped garlic.

Great. I can already feel the glare of disapproval from the better half that says "This doesn't taste like Memo's."

There's a brand in LA stores called Parker's Garlic Cheese. They also make the jalapeno flavor. I've used the garlic with cheese grits a few times. Not as strong on the garlic end as the Kraft was, but an acceptable substitute.

That stuff makes powerful cheese grits.

There are places in the world for processed cheese. Not many places, but there are places.

Thank you! I've never found the Kraft cheese roll here in yankee land. I've been using Velveeta in my Spinach Madeline. I'm going to look for that canned cheese next time I'm at the store.

Saw some garlic jack at the Central Market on Sunday.

Can someone post the recipe for the broccoli casserole that calls for this?

I need this badly - will pretty much any store have this, like Rouses, Winn Dixie, etc.??

I believe I saw both the garlic and jalapeno at Calvin's about a week ago.

Looks like I'm substituting - that must be outside of New Orleans

Calvin's is in BR, but try Langenstein's on Arabella. I believe I've seen it there. I know someone has it in New Orleans because before I saw it in BR, a friend brought me a supply from Nola about a year or so ago.
I've also seen it at an Albertson's and some other chain.

no.
Kraft discontinued it a year or two ago. But, there is some mexican type cheese roll/log that is similar.

Carters Supermarkets in Denham carry it pretty regularly

It's probably the Parker's brand.
