New Orleans you need a coat on, at least for dinner.

Since you're going for lunch, you do not need a coat. I thought you did and I wore one last month but I quickly realized the dress code didn't require it. I would still wear slacks and a button down shirt, and some nice shoes so you don't look like some bum off the street.

So they give you a coat just so you can take it off when you sit down?

Wear a suit. Don't be a schmuck.

For lunch the slacks and button down shirt will be fine.
If you are going for the Friday lunch, please don't wear jeans in there.

I think the best way to treat Galatoire's is to know that you won't be overdressed.

Bow tie and seersucker suit.

Not only will they give you a coat, but you are not allowed to take it off while at the table. I tried to take mine off once, and someone put a stop to that before I could get the first arm out of the sleeve. This was for dinner, though...not sure about the lunch dress code.

You should have slacks and a blazer at least.

I was in Mansurs the other day and several people came in with ball caps on and never took them off. One had jorts and a black AC/DC wife beater tee shirt. I told the Maitre' D I was not coming back until they cleaned that shite up.

for dinner, they not only give you a coat, they spend about 10 minutes making sure it fits well and matches. if they are going to actually make me look better than the men's warehouse i'll wear the damn coat. it's part of the fun anyway.

Tiger Attorney speaks truth: treat Galatoire's.

I have only been on Friday's for lunch. If you do not have a jacket, they will fit you with one.

Show some class. Bring your best. Know that you are entering an establishment with deep tradition and behave as such.

Enjoy

I've seen it at Ruth's in Metairie too.
What is the deal with men and caps. Is it glued to their heads? Kids don't know any better and should be taught to take then off, but i'm talking guys in the 20 to 50 range. Where a fricking toupee if your ashamed of the receding hair but take the hat off inside.
