Going first weekend in December to goof off with the wife and see the Christmas parade and shop etc.
Looking for a casual spot for a Friday dinner and Saturday lunch. For dinner Saturday night I want something nice.
Will probably drive to the Grand Hotel to check out the lights and decorations, but don’t want to eat there.
TIA

Everything is reasonably casual, a navy blazer is the Fairhope Tuxedo.
Southwood Kitchen - good food but low key
Wash House ("fine" dining)
Sunset Point - bar food
Gambinos is decent Italian (for Alabama) and very casual
Jesse's in Magnolia Springs
I've heard Char 32 is good but never been
Ivey's in Robertsdale is supposedly good, friend's wife works there, it's a 20 minute ride

I second Gambinos if you want Italian.

Another vote for Gambino's. We try to make it to Fairhope once a year, and if we're staying more than a weekend, always go to Gambino's one night. If it is a shorter trip I would skip it and just go eat seafood, but when you're there more than 4 nights, it is always a good change of pace.
Usually lunch at Panini Pete's is good. Last time we went the service wasn't that great, but I think we got into town on a Sunday afternoon and ate there on the way in, so that might have had something to do with it. Just slower than usual for some sandwiches and fries. Food was still great though.

I tried this place right after I saw this article. I ordered the steak Romano. It was ok; I should have asked the waiter for their specialty (I will next time).

I usually get their special if it’s seafood. I like the Trigger Oscar also. I had there Filet once and it was pretty darn good. Wife loves their Manicotti.
For Fairhope, Dragon fly was great lunch, it’s now our reg lunch stop. Panini’s Pete’s is overrated IMO. It was on my ‘must try’ list because of DDD but I was under impressed
Master Joe’s has pretty good Asian. Locals is pretty good but nothing to write home to momma about.

I agree on the panini Pete’s. I’ve eaten at 3 places I’ve seen on DDD and all were a disappointment.

Dragonfly: adding my vote to this for lunch. Amazing stuff
Wash House: Great dinner. Get the chateaubriand! You will regret passing this one up.
