We caught a few crappie/sacaulait/White perch this weekend and want to make some fish tacos. I was thinking just cook the fish in a pan with some shredded cabbage and a sauce. No clue on what kind of sauce. Also thought maybe just fish, lime juice and a avacado. How do you make yours? Thanks.

Sous vide in the bait well at 140°
Add fish sauce, cook the fish in a pan with some shredded cabbage. To a flour wrap add, fish, lime juice and an avocado.

Not sure I would take advice from someone who hasn’t caught a fish before.

For fresh water fish, I like to fry them in a thick, almost tempura style batter. Dress up the taco with your favorite fixings and sauces.
You really can’t go wrong.

We have sac a lait tacos regularly. I dust them in redfish magic, and brown on nonstick griddle (just easier to Keep them together.
For toppings: finely shredded cabbage, pickled red onion, cilantro.
If doing a sauce, I usually just mix up some chopped chipotles in mayo with some lime juice, salt, and red pepper.

I prefer grilled/blackened fish to fried
I like to make a fresh pico. Usually use local peaches but used fresh pineapple this weekend and it was awesome. Onion+tomato+peach/pineapple+cilantro+lime+ a little cumin-chili powder-salt-pepper to taste.
Simple slaw
I also like a little cream sauce of sour cream-mayo-lime-cumin
Flour tortilla. White sauce. Fish. Slaw. Pico. Profit

Chipotle aioli w/ cilantro, tomato and red cabbage. I drizzle some olive oil in mayo and then mix some chipotle powder to taste to make the aioli. I prefer grilled, baked or sauted fish vs tempura or fried.
You could also go with a lime and ginger aioli w/ fresh cilantro, mint and basil but I usually do that with tuna or salmon.

sear the fillets in a pan.
soak the shredded cabbage in red wine vinegar.
mix yogurt and mayo 50/50. add a little lemon juice to this mixture to cut it a bit.
fish/cabbage/drizzle yogurt sauce.
enjoy

Listen to me and use this recipe. Ask the baws on the outdoor board that have had it. I can brag about it without being a dick because it is a recipe I stumbled upon a while ago on the internet. It is unreal:
cover bass heavily in paul prudhommes redfish magic seasoning
blacken in skillet with olive oil. Doesn't take long. Around 5 minutes
for fish taco sauce
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayo
1 lime squeezed
1/2 t cumin
1/2 t ground coriander
1/2 t dried oregano
1/2 t ground chipotle chile powder
1/2 t capers, minced
1 jalepeno diced
1 T cilantro, diced
Mix all together, and serve on tortilla with fresh pico and lettuce/slaw/cabbage
dont pay attention to my horrific plating skills

I made fish tacos with some leftover halibut that I poached in olive oil with lemon and capers recently, that were excellent. I've also made em with fried halibut that I just rolled in a light egg wash and flour.. both outstanding.

For a slaw I like to use sour cream and tiger sauce. Then just blacken the fish with reddish magic in the skillet. Add cilantro and avocado with a squeeze of lime.
Super easy and really delicious.

quote:Not really. It is just an easy way to describe it(I put some blackening seasoning and cook in oil)
You call that blackened?
"I lighly cook a seasoned fish with some blackened powder with a light olive oil in a pan for a few minutes" I guess is what I should say so your hemorrhoids dont flare up
