What’s your got to for flank steaks. I haven’t cooked many of them but would like to start cooking them more often.
Do I have to marinate or can I just slap some dry seasonings on and cook on high heat quickly to a medium rare?

Make chimichurri, marinate it in 1/2, save 1/2 for a topping.

you dont have to do anything to it if you dont want to, but since its thin marinade generally works well with that cut. But if you dont have time you cant really go wrong with a dry rub.

Either works but I prefer a 24 hour marinade.
I typically use:
olive oil
Soy sauce
minced garlic
Lime juice
Chili powder
Pepper
Cumin
High heat grill about 5-7 minutes a side depending on thickness

You don;t have to, but it's advisable. It has a LOT of connective tissue in it, and a marinade with a lot of acid will help break down some of that connective tissue.

Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, and Paprika then Olive Oil to make a paste so that the seasoning stays on the Flank Steak.

Weather you marinate or rub, pat it dry before you grill and cut across t he grain.
I marinate, then rub, let sit in the fridge and then pat dry. They won't get grill marks or char
If wet.

2 tablespoons grill seasoning blend (recommended brand McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning)
1/4 cup Tamari dark soy
2 tablespoons honey
2 teaspoons hot red pepper flakes, divided
4 large cloves garlic, chopped, divided
2 teaspoons toasted (dark) sesame oil, eyeball it
2 scallions, finely chopped
2 pounds flank steak
I marinate for a few hours and put on a very hot grill and cook till medium rare.
Full disclosure, this is a Rachel Ray recipe but it's fantastic

1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1-2 tablespoons mustard powder
2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon course ground black pepper
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
Fresh chopped parsley
Couple chopped garlic cloves
1/3 cup lemon juice
Combine all ingredients in a bag or whatever and marinate the flank steak for 24 hours. This is enough marinade for two flank steaks.
When ready to cook, remove meat and pour marinade in a pot. Simmer for a little bit
Pat meat dry and grill roughly 7 minutes per side or longer if you like it cooked more.
Use reserved marinade as a sauce over the sliced meat. Use sparingly as its strong.
Enjoy

Beef chow fun
MARINADE
3 garlic cloves, finely minced
2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
2 tablespoons (regular) soy sauce*
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
2 teaspoons grated peeled fresh ginger ( or ½ teaspoon dry ginger)
1 teaspoon Sriracha (or more/less to taste)
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
My flank steak always turns into this or some other Asian inspired stir fry. That marinade is very good with blade tenderized flank steak.
