Story here in nashville from a couple months back; dude who owns a restaurant was closing up after hours by himself and accidentally locked himself in the freezer and froze to death.

this is a new restaurant.

ok, maybe i'm ignorant..but WHY IN THE frick would anyone in 2012 design a freezer without a handle or mechanism on the inside to open the door????

i don't get it. is it a security thing? are employees hiding in freezers stealing boxes of butter such an epidemic issue people request freezers be built without this??

i remember on what..the brady bunch in 1970 an episode where the guys get caught in sam's freezer and bobby has to climb through a little window to get out.

WHAT
THE
frick

someone needs to explain why of ALL THE DEADLY PLACE IN THE WORLD you need a fricking doorknob..they don't have them.

seriously. i don't understand this at all.

They have fail safes. It's usually a plunger type knob that you push in and release. The one at my store can't lock from the inside at all

thats what i dont understand. how can this misfunction?? isn't this just like a pole that goes through the door with a red button on the end? no electronics..just a metal pipe that opens the door.

Way back when I worked at a restaurant the walk-in had a lever to get out. 10-12 years ago...

Yeah, or I would have blocked up the Fans on the inside or something to avoid freezing to death.

All walk in coolers and freezers have a way to open from the inside. Local building codes don't allow anything to be installed without the ability to open. I've seen some people put a bar with pad locks across the door for units installed outside the restaurant to prevent theaft.
FYI...the inventory in a cooler or freezer could be in the thousands when you include beef and poultry.

He had an old crappy walk-in. They have come with pushable handles for forever. Just to avoid the locked inside scenario they have handles.

Remember the midget who wanted to be a bank teller but Harriet Olsen's mean bitch arse wouldn't let him be one just because he was different. It was terrible. But then that little count Nancy gets locked in the ice house thing and the only person that was small enough to fit thru the opening was the little wanna be bank teller midget. Unfortunantly the little bastard ended up going in there and saving the day. He shouldn't have though. To hell with Nancy Olsen, I wish she would have died. And to hell with Nells for not having enough sack to stand up to bitch arse Harriet.

I hated that show then, and there is no way I am watching re-runs of that shite. The momma bitch should have been beaten to death with a two by four from the lumber mill.

Remove the 'C' word and this quite possibly could be 'top 3 post of the year' winner
