What do you call the pasta used in their backed macaroni? My aunt makes something similar and I am trying to replicate it using her recipe but I cant seem to find the pasta here in my area of Texas.

"Long macaroni", but it does have an Italian name as well.
ETA: Try "bucatini".

Luxury brand pasta labels it as Long Macaroni.
A more "Italian" name is bucatini, or to southern Italians, perciatelli. Ziti has a similar shape, but usually a larger central hole.

My mom's recipe:
For each pack of Macaroni you need:
1 pk of Long #7 Macaroni
1 stick of butter
1 cup of milk
1 egg (whipped-scramble)
1 lb of Velveeta cheese(box) (grated)
Boil macaroni.
Place cook macaroni in baking pan.
In separate pot, boil milk, add butter, add cheese (continue to stir so it does not burn) add scramble egg and continue to stir to it is all mix up.
Take off heat.
Pour mixture over macaroni and make sure it mixed well in between macaroni
Bake @ 350* degree for about 45 minutes

My mother and grandmother always used it as do it. An old friend calls it "hosepipe" spaghetti.
Use rat cheese or commodity cheese with Pet milk and a lot of black pepper.

It's long macaroni but good luck finding it outside of NOLA. I don't know why but it's just not on shelves anywhere else for some reason.

Yeah this is my issue. My aunt has a great recipe and seems easy enough I just cant find the mac. Wondering if I just need to go with another pasta.

My mom got an aunt who works with her but at the depot in Chalmette to buy it along with some shrimp and she is giving it to a driver to bring it to Texas.

As previously stated Luxury #7.
I had the hardest time finding something similar and finally did. I will see if I still have a box floating around

I see it all over BR and saw it in HEB in San Antonio a couple weeks ago because I remember looking at it and thinking "hosepipes"

It's long macaroni. Bucatini is similar, and will do in a pinch, but it's not the same. Bucatini is more of a fat spaghetti noodle with a really narrow hole through the center as opposed to long macaroni being about the same as an elbow noodle but as long as a spaghetti noodle.
There's a Latin brand named "Ina" .. i think it's made in Guatamala ... they make long macaroni. I buy it here in Atlanta at international markets.

My grandmothers mac n cheese calls for the long macaroni noodles. Like martini said, they can be found in BR. I think either winn dixie or Albertsons carries them. Thank God my grandma (god bless her soul) believed in writing things down. Butter, pet milk, flour, velveta, dash of lea and perrin, plenty of black pepper. Absolutely a must have for the holidays.

I always bought them from Hi-Nabor in Baton Rouge. I saw them in Calandro's as well.
