Freezer went out, caught it at the point where everything has thawed but still cool. Placing a thermometer on it and external temp is around 54 degrees.
Can I refreeze or am I going to be cooking 50 pounds of deer meat tonight?

Just did a little checking and what I found says the temperature zone from 40-140 degrees F is the optimal pathogen growth zone for meats.
That's all I've got--------------sorry.

That's a lot of chili.

Cook and refreeze. Unfortunate, but at least it’s not a total waste.

if you had caught it in the 40s I’d say refreeze no problem. Mid 50s is pretty much counter temperature. I’d cook it but you don’t have to do it all tonight…it’ll hang in the fridge a few days
