No I ain't calling you names. I love a good fruit cake. The moist kind full of stuff, lots of stuff. They (good ones) are a hard item to find locally. I assume that online purchase may be my best bet. Looking for recommendations. Thanks

Pretty sure I saw them in the round tin cans the last time I was in Costco for something like $30 each.

Not as cheap as I remember them being but like you, I also like a good fruit cake.

They are one of those things it seems people either love or hate.

Claxton fruit cakes. Kroger, Walmart, Sam's Publix, Costco, Etc.

I have trouble not eating a whole cake when I start.

I grew up with my family making fruit cake. My family leaves out the Orange candid fruit. We think this is what people do not like in fruit cake. Everyone raves over after they taste it.

I love a dark, dense fruitcake that’s a little boozy.

Baked two fruit cakes for years...one for Thanksgiving...one for Christmas. Cut back to just one and then none for a long time now....Started around Halloween.. "doctored" weekly with bourbon wrapped tightly in foil...awesome stuff.

I don't recall seeing the 'candied fruit' stuff in stores lately. Do they still make the stuff??? It got very expensive last I remember.

Well, when you think about a commercial enterprise having to charge $30 per cake to make money, it is easy to see how expensive it has become to make one now.

Actually, one of my favorite holiday cakes is a date/nut loaf. It is about as dense as a fruit cake and tasty as hell.

My ex-wife's aunt use to make one of the best and gave me her recipe, but the bitch took it when we got divorced. I still hate her for doing that. I didn't mind her going away, but she could have left that great cake recipe.

I second this! I was not a fan of Fruit cakes until someone gave me one of these. Moist, sweet, flavorful, and ADDICTIVE.

I love fruit cake as well as long as it is packed with fruit and nuts and a lil bourbon or brandy makes it even better.
This year I decided to make my own but I've been having trouble finding the candied fruits. I guess with Covid and many new home bakers that they bought it all out by the time I decided to do so as well. LOl.....

There is a bag of those candied slice oranges on the kitchen table in our office at work right now...….from the Dollar Store

Not sure if the type you are looking for would be in stock there but maybe worth a look.

Albertson’s makes a good one. We received a good one from Harry and David’s yesterday that was good.
