went to philly this past weekend and of course had to compare and contrast the two top cheese steak places.

i went to Geno's and my padnah went to Pat's and we got the same thing and split it down the middle. We got there at about 12:30 on Saturday for lunch it was probably a 30 min wait in both lines.

We both got wiz-with (which in philadelpian means a cheese steak sandwich with cheese wiz and onions.

i give the meat award to Geno's. it was more "sliced" as Pat's was more "chunky". and the meat had better flavor. Geno's also gets the nod for the onions. Geno's onions were about 1/2" squares and Pat's were thinly sliced. Even on the cheese as it was the same in both places. Pat's gets the nod for bread. While Geno's was a regular sub bread, Pat's had a little something extra. It was a little greasier, a certain je ne sais quoi.

Overall, Geno's gets my vote as Best.

I never was a cheese wiz fan growing up so I always have to get some other form of cheese even though it's not "authentic"

that's a good way to put it .. especially when you consider the "messiah" that claimed that ..

I think they're pretty similar.

Which one serves Coke products? I know one serves Pepsi, so if the other one serves Coke, that's the one I'd choose.

If they both serve Pepsi, I'd go to McDonald's.

I'll be there later in the year, so I'll have to go check this out for myself. You know, for research purposes only.

Neither

Tony Lukes is the place- cheezesteaks....roast pork with broccoli rabe, nice.

I've done Jim's on South St, Genos, and Pats. Tony Lukes wins.....was there two Thursday ago with the family, heading home from the jersey shore- they were taping the show Man vs Food (Travel Channel). The Pork sandmich was outstanding....son got a cheezesteak...had a bite..yum.

This is a great point. There are dozens of places in the burbs that are equal or better. They do get some volume, however.

The Pepsi comment by the other guy is pretty retarded.

When i was in philly last november, i tried both pat's and geno's. i guess i'm used to loaded cheesesteaks (peppers, mushrooms, etc). a few people and myself got two from each (traditional with whiz and another with provolone). we liked geno's better. it was also nice eating a local dish on a very cold night.

south of philly opened and i found their sandwiches very comparable (they use all the same ingredients). but you can get all kinds of cheesesteak combinations, which i like and in my opinion, put them over the edge

however, the cheesesteak has nothing on a po'boy

I don't really care for cheesesteaks.

Geno's and Pat's are about the same to me. I've never eaten one anywhere else because, like I said, I don't really care for them.

Why? Pepsi is pretty fricking retarded. I'd rather drink bull milk or Mountain Dew than most Pepsi products. So

And for the record, I'm not retarded, just a little slow...
