Was there last week. The service is unbelievably slow.

I've been there three times in the last year and 2 were terrible- friends wanted to go the 2nd and the 3rd time was a work dinner.
Extremely slow service each time. Last time we had a 7:00 reservation for 4 and were told it would be a few minutes.
Waited by the podium until 7:20- when we asked if we could be seated they said it would be about 20 more minutes. We go to the bar and in that 20 minutes couldn't get a drink. The bartender was very busy but there was only one so he never worked his way to our end of the bar. The other group on our end was very frustrated as well. They were there before us.
Took about 5-10 minutes for the waiter to come by after we were seated. He was nice but clearly had too many tables. Would probably have been great if he didn't have to wait on every table in the room.
Food was mediocre and overpriced.
Bottom line is they are under staffed and do not appear to think that is a problem. Hope I don't have to go back.

It has been very hit or miss for me as well.
When they first opened, they were heavily staffed with people who had clearly never worked in the service industry before. Which, I know places are understaffed right now and that may be your only choice.. but man. They needed a few weeks of practicing/training before opening in that case.
A lot of my experiences there have just been awkward. One beverage server couldn't figure out how to open a bottle of wine and continued to try at the table awkwardly until we talked her through it.

Barracuda is fun and open. Have had some very good date nights there.

Lots of good mentions here. I'll add The Carriage House at Houma's House and Library Wine & Provisions for the Gonzales area.

I'm surprised that Superior Grill hasn't been mentioned. Louisiana Lagniappe is solid choice, Stab's on Jefferson and all the others people have mentioned.
