Grayson's in Clarence, LA

Drove up from BR and picked up my Dad on the way to try out their BBQ.
What an interesting place. Very country. Maybe last remodeled in the late 50's/early 60's. Walked up and two people were devouring sandwiches in their cars.
This isn't Texas BBQ. It's mostly pork (although the brisket is good). Dad had the mixed plate, which was pork ribs, their own smoked ham, and what I'm guessing is smoked butt/shoulder.
I had the sliced ham sandwich on their homemade bun (this is what you want to get) and chip beef on store bought (because I wanted to compare):
I also got some coleslaw because my doctor is a pawn of Big Veg. It was fresh and not drowning in mayo, which is what I like.
Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Their Chip Sandwich is great. They chop beef, pork butt and their ham all together. The ham makes all the difference in the mix.We get it in quarts, vac seal it flat and freeze. Also go in Nov/Dec and you'll see every available square inch filled with whole boxed smoke hams.

The smoked hams are some of the best I've ever had.

It's some good old school bbq. Nothing fancy or unique. Beautiful place to go for a ride as well.

Grew up living on Grayson’s!!! The GOAT of LA BBQ. I get them to ship a ham to my folks in Montana the last 6 Thanksgivings.

Never been there, but this joint is such a big deal it's on the town's Wikipedia page:

Grayson Barbeque in Clarence, with a smokehouse, draws clientele from beyond the village because of its regional reputation and location on U.S. Highway 71 near the intersection with U.S. Highway 84.

Best BBQ in Louisiana no contest. Whenever I drive up to visit my parents I always take the long way back to BR to stop at Graysons.
They did get a new sign out front so that counts as updating lol.
