Ground bison – what to season it with?

Bought some ground bison from Costco and the first batch I made tasted like dog shite, I use salt and pepper and a little bit of garlic powder and a dash of Worcestershire
Any suggestions on what to make it taste good?
I’m using it for meal prep and simply lay it over the top of some basmati rice
TIA

I’d go with what you did and add a little cayenne. If it’s extra lean, I would start with a 2 tablespoons of bacon grease per pound of meat.
If I wanted a southwest flavor, I’d choose a home mixed taco seasoning.
In either case, I would brown the meat over medium high heat. The “dog shite” taste is either from meat that wasn’t sufficiently browned or it’s rotten.

I use chupacabra rub for my wild game burgers and ground meat. I mix it up between Uncle Chris’s and Chupacabra steak for wild game backstrap. I use Ragin Blaze for fish, chicken and veggies.

If Mr Yoshida gourmet sauce can’t fix it, then it can’t be fixed. It even makes hooded merganser edible, somewhat.

Bison is pretty lean meat and has a dearth of requisite fat to give the taste that we are accustomed to with ground meat. On the rare occasions that I do get bison, I cut it with either ground pork or I get a pack of raw green onion sausage along with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder.

Never had ground bison that tasted bad. Have made many bison burgers with only s&p plus whatever basic burger condiments.

I agree, I’ve never had bad ground bison.
OP might’ve got a batch of spoiled meat.

I used some taco seasoning mix and the burgers turned out great!
