Is it safe to eat an Elk burger rare? I have always thought that wild game is safer rare than things like beef, but I am just making sure.

Chronic Wasting Disease? I don't know if this could be an issue or not(and if it was, I still might eat it the way I like it).

if the elk was cleaned and processed without any poopoo touching it you should be fine

I thought cwd was not a threat to humans. Besides, I don't eat brains of deer or elk.

I've survived rare elk and am still here to post about it.

I wouldn't eat ground anything rare.

You get to skip on things like steaks and such because what pathogens on the thing would be on the surface, and the rare searing is enough to kill them.

When you ground it up though, some of that outside is now deep inside. You certainly CAN do it, but it isn't much if any safer than just eating rare beef ground meat.

+1

its not the type of meat its that it is ground that requires it to need to be cooked more

I've eaten it rare before.

IMO, Elk is the best wild game there is.
