I am meeting a friend and several acquaintances in New Orleans for a business partnership and then hang out for about 2 days.

One of the people in the group made reservations at GW Fins one of the evenings. Anything that I must try or must avoid?

Thank you for your assistance.

It’s all good, the lobster dumplings and scalibut are just 2 of my favorites. Oh yeah, don’t forget the biscuits

Yes, it’s all good.

My wife had scallops and I had swordfish last time we went. Beautiful place, and they make a good martini.

If they are running the fish that is covered in chicken skin, get that!

You won't be sorry.

The scallops with the mushroom risotto is really nice as well.

I'd passed on their wings appetizer many times thinking they were chicken.

The lobster dumplings are great. I enjoyed the scalibut but not as much as advertised. I remain wondering about the biscuit hype. Four of us didn’t get it.
One ordered the chicken skin fish. I tasted it. Bland.
BBQ shrimp was a hit.

Great place. Definitely in my top 5 in NOLA. The menu changes every day depending on what kind of fresh fish is available. The scalibut (scallops and halibut ) is always good.

Thank you. I have never been to New Orleans. After looking at the menu, I will for sure be trying a Saint Marie cocktail and that scalibut does look interesting.

I'm a sucker for Royal Red shrimp.

Do you have other places in mind for meals?

I recommend Peche for one of them.

For someone new to New Orleans, I typically recommend one of the old school New Orleans restaurants for a meal. Galatoire's is now taking reservations for downstairs dining which is not the norm. Food is delicious and I love the atmosphere. It makes for a fun time with a group.

Lobster dumplings, cioppino, and salty malty for dessert.
