I have not been here yet. I know I need a bullet proof vest and a spare wallet, but in looking at their menu it seems they are trying too hard with all of their ideas. I just want to know if the food a any good. Anyone been?

Not sure how it's trying too hard when it is a basic Americanized Cuban menu.

I picked up to go a few weeks ago - shrimp tacos, elote, rice and beans were all really good even after transport.

The frozen mojito though was killer and that'll be a regular on the ole summer drink list.

This the place that has fought the French Quarter Association busybodies tooth and nail for seemingly the past 20 years to open on a lot that had been an abandoned eyesore for like 50?

I need to go check them out and give them my business for that reason alone.

Ha! Yea.

On their tables they have stickers that say "Been trying to open since 2012."

I appreciate the commitment of them to keep going on the place, then keep trolling the neighborhood by having the No Habana Outpost signs in the window now.

Ambivalent to their plight, but continuing to rock the New York plates on their showpiece car says a lot about them.
