Have yall ever had the banana “filling” between layers

of a yellow cake with chocolate icing? My grandma always did it but my wife’s family from Mississippi has never heard of it. I didn’t know if it was just a Louisiana thing or maybe just my family thing. I liked it

My old grandma (RIP) would make a yellow layered cake with chocolate icing and thinly slice very ripe bananas to go between the layers.
That was one of the best damn layer cakes I've ever eaten and still make them once in a while for us to eat.
IF the cake lasted more than a couple days, it tasted even better.
