How do you cook rice?

I'm not asking how to cook rice, but how do you do it?
Personally I use the 2:1 ratio of water to rice, bring water to boil, put rice in and stir, let cook on low for 20 min. It's literally the easiest thing to cook. (This is how it says to do it on the bag fwiw).
Was discussing with some guys at work and they had all sorts of methods involving boiling a bunch of water, draining, constantly storing, other crazy things.
Why do people complicate things?

My 10 minute Mac and cheese laughs at your 20 minute rice...

1:1.5 rice to water
Bring to rolling boil. Once there, stir once, cover, turn heat off. Let sit for 25 minutes.
It's there every time.

2:1 but I put a bit of olive oil in the the rice and swirl around til all covered before I add the water. Helps it not to stick together.
Also the brand of rice is huge. Zatarains long grain is the best IMHO.
I also use hams method of cooking (above).

I use a rice cooker
The boiling and straining method you mentioned will wash away more starch and make the rice not near as sticky
My folks do it like that sometimes

There were lots of rice cooker supporters in the rice thread last week

Exactly what I do. Don't lift the lid. Comes out great every time.
Sometimes I'll toss in a garlic clove and a bay leaf in the rice while it cooks and discard after. Adds another layer of flavor.

Have you tried the Louisiana produced version called Jazz Men?

1.75:1 water to rice. Only use jasmine.
Salt
Pat of butter
High heat bring to boil. Stir. Reduce heat cover and simmer 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Fluff and cover. Perfect every time.

That's the way to cook white rice. I will never understand why some people think it's difficult.
ETA: I also throw in a little olive oil.
ETA2: Someone gave us a rice cooker as a present one time. I used it twice and ditched it. Thought it was useless and was just taking up cabinet space.

I press the button
Louisiana Popcorn rice only. No jasmine. No basmati. I grew up on Popcorn, it's what my daddy grows, and it's the best damn rice I've ever tasted.

I'm not against rice cookers, I just don't keep one in the kitchen. Unitasker.

I get popcorn when I can find it. Jimmy Hoppe from Fenton grows some.
