How do you take the slime out of okra?

My neighbor just brought over a bag of fresh cut okra & I want to smother them down with a can of tomatoes, but without the slime-suggestions?

In my experience, the acid of the tomatoes will cut the slime. Or add a little vinegar. Or keep cooking past the slime.
Personally, I like okra any way. Boiled and slimy, fried and crispy, smothered and tomatoey, or in shrimp and okra gumbo. I only ever put it in gumbo if it's specifically shrimp and okra.

Embrace the slime. Love it, eat it, enjoy it.
I love okra.

If the market is out of the slimeless okra I usually bake it for 10 to 20 minutes to cut the slime down.

Sun dry okra on back porch for about 2 weeks. Will shrivel up like its cold.
Prior to cooking, chop and place in water. Will rehydrate. No slime when cooked.
(I just made all this up, but it sure sounds legit)

Do you serve it with microwave ribeye?
