How healthy is crawfish? (pic inside)

let's just assume the average Louisiana resident will consume 4 or 5 pounds per serving.
here's what a website suggests but I'm rather skeptical of it:
in reality on a scale of 1 to 10, how healthy would you consider crawfish...I ask b/c for dinner on Monday night & last night I had crawfish...both times I felt like I ruined a dinner but this chart suggests that I didn't...obviously the sodium is going to be awful but 500 calories for 85 grams of protein is pretty legit
give it a rating:
1 being a big mac, large fries & a coke to
10 being grilled tilapia with veggies

Who cares. The 15 beers I will drink during and after the boil kills any kind of health concerns for me that day anyway.

The endorphins my brain releases while eating, probably adds 5 years to my life.
I give them a 10.

A lot of cholesterol, too. Like raw oysters.

How did they come up with the absurd quantity of sodium? If it was that large a number there is now way that a human with taste buds that worked would be able to consume it.

Probably not so much the crawfish itself as is it the boil seasoning.

Some of those number look out of whack. Out of 5lbs of crawfish you are only going to get 1/2-3/4 lb of meat which should give you around 64-96g of protein. That should only add up to about 256 calories(assuming the higher protein amount or 64gx4cal per gram protein) and maybe 5grams of fat(9cal per gram) at 45cal. So far we have a total of 301 calories. So maybe 300-450 calories at the most depending on how much meat you get out of it. Also, you are not going to have carbohydrates in crawfish and where is the sugar coming from.
If you want to find the true caloric breakdown look up crawfish tail meat and take the whole weight of the crawfish and figure you will get 10-15% meat after you peel them.

I would think the sodium is gonna depend on the seasonings. Zatarains has double the amount of sodium compared to Cajun Land.

And cajun land is so much better!

By incorrectly assuming that the crawfish soak up every last bit of seasoning...or that you drink the leftover seasoned water.

I think that's a little off on the calories. Maybe if you ONLY consumed tails. But sucking the heads and all, there's a lot of fat in that. And where the frick do the carbs come from? Maybe if people put potatoes in the boil?

I have little doubt that the sodium levels in most servings boiled crawfish is pretty damn high. That figure seems a bit ridiculous, though, I'd agree.
That's basically ten teaspoons of salt per serving, if you do the math. There's no way.

the recommended daily dose of sodium is between 1500-2500. according to that picture a 5lbs serving of boiled crawfish has 10x that!

I once bet a guy $5 he wouldn't do this. It's amazing what some people will do for five bucks
